A Journey That Began Before He Knew It

For much of his life, Michael believed he had experienced an unusual childhood.

Only later did he begin to realise that many of the events he remembered so clearly may have formed part of a much larger story.

Growing up across several countries, travelling extensively from an early age, and witnessing experiences he could never fully explain, Michael spent decades gradually piecing together memories that had remained remarkably vivid throughout his life.

THE SHOCK REALITY OF TIME

Not simply a memoir.

A lifetime of discovery.

Beginning with the remarkable clarity of childhood memories and continuing through decades of reflection, The Shock Reality of Time traces one man's search to understand the events that shaped his life.

Travelling from post-war Britain to Peru, North America, Europe and beyond, Michael recounts experiences that, when viewed individually, seem extraordinary in themselves.

Taken together, they begin to reveal something much deeper.

As forgotten details return and long-held assumptions are questioned, the story gradually explores family, identity, memory and the enduring influence of the past.

Rather than providing easy conclusions, the book encourages readers to consider how our own lives are shaped by the events we only come to understand many years later.

About Michael

Michael Templeman never intended to write a memoir.

Instead, he spent decades quietly reflecting on memories that remained unusually vivid throughout his life.

As new information emerged, those memories began to form connections that prompted him to look again at his childhood, his family's extraordinary travels and the quiet, often unexplained role his father appeared to play throughout the post-war years.

The Shock Reality of Time is the result of that lifelong process of observation, reflection and discovery—a deeply personal account written to preserve those memories and share the remarkable journey they ultimately revealed.
